Description

Dating back to the late sixteenth century, Dorset buttons are a great way to embellish your quilting project and knitwear. Finish them as jewelry pieces if you wish. They are functional too!

We’ll start the class by making the traditional Blandford cartwheel to learn the basics before discussing some variations, including a fan-style button and the Maltese Cross. Catherine will show you how to include beads and will finish the class with a look at styles inspired by vintage buttons of the 1950s.

No sewing machine required.

Catherine Redford is an award-winning fiber artist who still loves to learn and pass that knowledge on as she teaches quilting and stitching around the United States and beyond. She has been married to Steve for very close to 40 years. They have four children who are all married and producing the most wonderful grandchildren. When Catherine is not stitching she likes to knit anything that doesn’t need to fit and reads a very eclectic mix of literature. She would like to say that she enjoys long walks in nature but the summer heat and winter cold in Illinois puts her off going outside ten out of twelve months of the year.
