April 30, 2023

Dear Friends & Family of VQF:

With heavy hearts, we are announcing the cancellation of the 2023 Vermont Quilt Festival.  I know this will come as a surprise to many of you with it being so close to the planned show dates.  The world has changed since our last show in 2019.  Over the last four years,  many vendors have retired or are no longer traveling to shows, prices for goods and services have skyrocketed, and our reserve funds have dwindled.  We were hopeful that we would be able to overcome the significant financial impact the organization has suffered these past years; but it is not to be.

Over the last 45 years, we at VQF have had the incredible privilege to organize an event where people from across the world come together to learn, grow, create, and become inspired to express themselves through the fabulous art of quilting.  We wish it could have gone on another 45 years.  The prudent and responsible thing to do at this point is to honor our debts, refund monies received, and end on a graceful note to honor the Vermont Quilt Festival name.

We will begin the process of refunding money to everyone this week, beginning Monday, May 1st.  Our goal is to complete that process over the next two weeks.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us and for sustaining VQF as New England’s Oldest and Largest Quilt Festival over these past decades.
