SAQA’s traveling trunk shows are designed to showcase SAQA’s diversity of talent and support the organization’s mission to “promote the art quilt.” These 39 small pieces submitted by SAQA members represent the work of a small fraction of SAQA’s over 4,000 members. When the organization put a call out in 2021 inviting members to submit one 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional piece for inclusion in SAQA’s traveling trunk shows, nearly 400 pieces were submitted. As a result, the pieces were divided into 10 separate “trunks” available to travel to venues. Each trunk represents a diversity of art styles, techniques, subjects and geography, reflecting the diversity of the SAQA membership.

Founded in 1989, SAQA has grown into a dynamic and active community of over 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals, located around the world, who share an appreciation of the art quilt. SAQA members have access to a wide variety of programs, educational resources and professional opportunities in addition to many less formal opportunities to learn from and connect with peers. All experience levels are welcome.
