The Franklin County Quilters Guild was established in February 1991 to promote an interest in the art of quilting.  The guild has met monthly ever since in Saint Albans, currently at the Church of the Rock.  A few meetings were canceled during the pandemic, but the guild quickly shifted to meetings and sew alongs on Zoom in the summer of 2020.

As a benefit to the community, the guild holds an annual quilt show, free to the public, in early April featuring over 100 quilts made by members.  The guild hosted a quilt show again this year after a 3-year hiatus due to the pandemic.  A raffle has been held in conjunction with the show since the show’s establishment in 1999.  For 2 years prior to that, the raffle was held at the Maple Festival in Saint Albans.  Proceeds for the raffle and quilt show provide funding for the quilting classes for and charitable efforts of the guild.

The guild provides local charities and other organizations with handmade quilts at no charge. These quilts have been used for fund raising projects or simply to provide comfort and warmth to someone who might otherwise not get it. Thousands of quilts have been donated to over 40 local and national charities and nonprofits, as well as to individuals/families of local military Purple Heart recipients, breast cancer survivors, and victims of disasters.

With just under 60 members, the Franklin County Quilters Guild has grown to be the largest quilt guild in Franklin County since its establishment over 32 years ago.  Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesdays, September through June, at the Church of the Rock, on Route 104 in Saint Albans, starting at 6:30 p.m.  More information about the guild can be found at the guild’s website, by clicking on the logo above.
