NEW ENGLAND'S OLDEST AND LARGEST ANNUAL
QUILT EVENT
Welcome to the VQF web site. We�re working on our
brochure even as you read this, but we can give you a few glimpses now
into the 2001 show - our 25th anniversary.
PLACE: Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont; exit 5 on I-89
DATES: The show will be almost a month earlier next year than in
the past - June 29-July 1. The opening reception at Plumley Armory is June
28 from 4:30-6:30pm; the Champagne Preview at Shapiro Field House is also
on the 28th, starting at 7:00pm.
CLASSES: We will offer 70 or more classes between June 28
through July 1.
As of October 1, the following teachers are under contract: Bobbie Aug,
Barbara Barber, Jan Benander, Ann Bird, Nancy Chandler and Mary Jane
Simpson, Jo Diggs, Ellen Eddy, Cynthia England, John Flynn, Anne Gallo and
Susan Raban, Harriet Hargrave, Bettina Havig, Michelle Kincaid, Sharon
Newman, Katie Pasquini-Masopust, Sherry Reis, Mary Sorensen, Karen Stone,
Deborah Tucker, Judi Warren.
AQS APPRAISAL CLASSES: For the third consecutive year, the
Festival will present the American Quilters Society�s basic courses for
aspiring appraisers. The 2-day appraisal skills course and the 1-day
donation-fair market value class will be offered June 28-30. AQS Appraisal
Certification Board members Bobbie Aug and Sharon Newman are the
instructors.
EXHIBITS: As of October 1, the following exhibits were
confirmed: Parallel Threads (African-American quiltmakers); Doreen
Speckmann retrospective; Pilgrim/Roy Challenge quilts; quilts by Festival
teachers and judges; antique quilts from Plain and Fancy: Vermont�s
People and Their Quilts and other private and public collections.
CONTEST: Our contest for quilts completed since July, 2000, is
open to everyone. To receive the contest rules and entry form, send $1.00
US to VQF Contest, POB 349, Northfield, VT 05663.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Use the services of the Sugarbush Chamber of
Commerce to book a room on-line; the Chamber has hundreds of rooms
available with 25 miles of Northfield. Go to their web site, www.madrivervalley.com,
to book a room, or e-mail your questions to them at [email protected].
If you don�t have a computer, you may call the Chamber at 800-828-4748
between 8:00am and 5:00pm Eastern Time on weekdays, and between 9:00am and
noon on Saturdays.
COMPLETE INFORMATION: To receive the printed brochure in
mid-February and 3 issues of our newsletter through the year, send $3.00

$4.00 US, and for other foreign addresses, $5.00 US.
