Ruby Jubilee Champagne Preview

MILLER NORTH AND SOUTH
Celebrate the opening of the 40th anniversary of the Vermont Quilt Festival! View the contest and special exhibit quilts, congratulate the winners, and shop at more than eighty-five vendor booths while enjoying champagne, ginger ale, and mouth-watering chocolates courtesy of some of Vermont's finest chocolatiers. Free admission for class registrants and contest entrants. Tickets are $12 at the door. 
 
New Quilt Appraisals
FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 9AM-4PM
BLUE RIBBON PAVILION
Gerald Roy of Warner, NH, one of the founders of the American Quilter's Society Quilt Appraisal Program, offers appraisals of new quilts. Appraisals require 30 minutes per quilt, and owners receive a written appraisal form that may be used for insurance, sale or donation purposes. In addition, contest entrants may arrange to have their quilts appraised as the quilts hang in the exhibit. The fee is $70 per quilt.  
  
Antique Quilt Appraisals 
SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 9AM-5PM 
WARE BUILDING CONFERENCE ROOM
Since 1981, the Festival appraisal team has performed more than 1,600 appraisals. Whether you are looking for a figure for insurance, donation, or sale purposes, Gerald Roy, longtime collector, dealer, and appraiser of antique quilts, will provide you with a written record and photo to fill the bill. Appointments are not necessary. The fee is $50 per quilt. 

The Textile Detectives are In

FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2-4PM 
BLUE RIBBON PAVILION
Join the co-authors of Plain and Fancy: Vermont's People and Their Quilts  for an exploration about quilts. Visitors are invited to bring one or two pre-1960 quilts for examination. Listen as Vermont's foremost antique quilt experts talk to the audience about the age, pattern and condition of each quilt. This is not about values; rather it's a quilt show and tell for everyone.
Free admission.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 6:30-8:00PM

Meet the Instructors
Join us for the kickoff event for the VQF Education programs. Many instructors will give brief overviews of who they are and describe their class offerings. See their newest books and other products, too. Attendees will have the opportunity to socialize with the instructors while enjoying light refreshments. As part of our 40th anniversary "Ruby Jubilee," you are encouraged to wear red and be eligible for a special door prize. Registrants can select the event during the registration process. 
Open to the public. Tickets are $10 at the door.

"From There to Here" presented by Ruth B. McDowell
From a few traditional quilts, Ruth has incorporated the piecing technique with a love of a huge range of printed and plaid cotton fabrics to produce more than 500 art quilts. The range of subjects, compositions, and color play she deveops is unique in the quilt world. Follow the growth of her quilts over three decades in a real visual treat. Ruth is known worldwide as an adept and humorous speaker. $12 admission includes a door prize ticket.

"Little Fish in a Big Sea" presented by Deb Tucker
Join Deb for a quilter's journey through an accumulation of quilts and stories dating back more than thirty years. $12 admission includes a door prize ticket.

Raffles
SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2:30PM

"Celebration," the 2016 raffle quilt based on the Judy Niemeyer Quilting pattern "Glacier Star," was pieced by Anne Harmon, Joanne Lattrell and Mary Ellen Francis, and machine quilted by Karen Abrahamovich. Materials were donated by Yankee Pride Quilts, The Quilters' Corner at Middlebury Sew-N-Vac, and Country Treasures. Two sewing machines will be raffled: a Pfaff Expression 3.5 machine generously donated by The Quilters' Corner at Middlebury Sew-N-Vac, and a Janome Horizon Memory Craft 8900 machine generously donated by Janome America and Bittersweet Fabric Shop, Boscawen, NH. Tickets for each raffle are 1 for $3 or 2 for $5 and are available in the Miller Centre Lobby. 

2017 SewBatik Challenge
MILLER NORTH
The 2017 Challenge invites you to create a small wall quilt depicting what the word "Illusion" means to you. SewBatik will provide two fat eighths of its beautiful batik fabric. Fabric and rules for the challenge are included in the packets. A limited number of packets will be available for purchase each day at the announcement table in Miller North. When the quilts are judged at the 2017 show, the top winner will receive a basket of SewBatik fabrics valued at $500; the second place winner, a basket of SewBatik fabric valued at $300.

Over the past 40 years, the non-profit Vermont Quilt Festival has continued to be the setting for the highest quality education in the art of quilting, for exhibitions of hundreds of quilts, for a Merchant Mall of over 90 vendors, and for the preservation of our quilting heritage.
