It’s spring in Vermont, and the 2009 Vermont Quilt Festival is set to kick off with new vendors, exciting teachers, exhibits and special events.

Recently added is an exhibit entitled Jananmary,  which pays tribute to Mary K. Ryan and Jan Snelling McTaggart, who for the past thirty years have been friends and collaborators in the world of quilting.

“Hurrah for the Red, White and Green!”, our antique quilt exhibit, will celebrate the three-color combination of red, white and green,  popular in American quilts since the 1840s.

Look up in the Miller North lobby, and enjoy the artistry of Sonya Lee Barrington, Karen Combs, Carol Doak, Kimberly Einmo, and Debby Kratovil, some of our 2010 teachers.   The work of our 2009 faculty will be shown in Miller South.

Other exhibits include Doreen Speckmann: A Retrospective”, “Tropical Treats”, a collection of Hawaiian quilts by famed quilting sisters, Nancy Chong and Janice Lee Baehr,  the work of innovative quilt artist Janet Fogg, and thread painted landscapes by Nancy Prince.

Meet and talk to writers such as Quilters Newsletter’s Alison Bolt and novelist Marie Bostwick.

Join us for the 33rd annual Vermont Quilt Festival and see why the Vermont Chamber of Commerce named us as a Top Ten Event for Summer 2009!

Thanks everyone for a great VQF 2009!

It seems that many attendees were so dazzled by the array of quilts on display and the fun of their classes that they left personal belongings behind. All items turned in are now in the VQF, including cell phones, glasses, notebooks and purchases. Please call the office at (802) 872-0034 if you are missing an item.
